MOTHERS BEYOND BORDERS

Yalea presents a special version of the Halide style dedicated to MSF

Longarone, February 23, 2026 – Yalea, a brand of the De Rigo Group that has always supported women, is backing Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) through the “Mothers Beyond Borders” project, dedicated to the organisation’s maternal and paediatric hospital in Khost, Afghanistan, which provides cares to women throughout all stages of pregnancy, and assists in the delivery of over 25,000 babies every year. Afghanistan continues to face one of the most critical humanitarian crises in the world: each year, around 4,300 women die from pregnancy- or childbirth-related complications, and one in thirteen children does not survive to see their first birthday. A large part of the population has poor access to care, and the shortcomings of the health system aggravate the situation of many families.

In this context, MSF’s intervention is vital to save lives, and Yalea’s donation in support of the project is valuable to ensure the continuity and quality of the care provided to mothers and children. The company’s commitment is reflected in a multi-channel campaign aimed at raising public awareness and actively supporting those working in crisis environments.”

MSF’s activity in the region contributes significantly to the reduction of maternal morbidity and mortality in Khost, ensuring wider access to basic health care services, as well as sexual and reproductive health care; The Médecins Sans Frontières maternity ward in Khost also provides emergency obstetric and neonatal care to a large part of the provincial population.

“Childbirth should be a time of joy, not sadness. But the risks of giving birth to a child in Afghanistan, including insecurity, the lack of access to care, and gender-based problems, remain unacceptably high. No woman should die in childbirth. This is why we are here” says an MSF humanitarian worker returning from Khost hospital.

The project is a unique healthcare model in an extremely complex context. The heart of the hospital is its medical and logistics staff, 70% of whom are women, a necessary choice to respect local cultural norms and ensure that patients feel safe receiving obstetric and gynaecological care.

To give greater visibility to the project, Yalea is launching an exclusive variant of the Halide sunglasses style (SYA244, colour 0XAP). The style features a distinctive soft, rounded acetate front, enhanced by refined faceted details and delicate shades of brown and pink. The finishing touch is the AY monogram on the temple, embellished by different shades of enamels.

Through the “Mothers Beyond Borders” project, Yalea supports the commitment of Médecins Sans Frontières to ensuring women continuous access to safe, professional care throughout all stages of pregnancy, as well as skilled assistance during childbirth and in the first days of a newborn’s life. A meaningful contribution to maternal and child health in the world’s most vulnerable regions.
